Secure Storage Resources
National surveys report that on average 32-40% of households in the United States own firearms. In Oregon, the RAND survey reports that upwards of 50% of households own firearms. Firearms are a part of daily life for many of our students. The High Desert Education Service District wants to support and keep our students and families safe both in school and at home.
The High Desert ESD, in partnership with the Roundhouse Foundation and Deschutes County, have a variety of safe storage items available for families in our region. These safe storage items are available free of charge. Below is a breakdown of where storage devices have been distributed.
