Bullying and Suicide prevention support

Our nation’s K-12 schools are entrusted to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for students, faculty, and their families. In today’s world, youth are exposed to more information coming from a variety of sources than ever before. Our team has designed this page to assist students, families, schools and the community get the latest data and resources around suicide and bullying prevention in schools. 

Involvement in bullying, regardless of the student’s role (bully, bystander or person being bullied), has a negative impact on a student’s social, emotional, and academic experience in schools. Academically, students who have been bullied have been shown to score lower on standardized test, receive lower grades and experience high absenteeism (Espelage, Hong, Rao, & Lowe). 

The State of Oregon has established a free, anonymous tip line called SafeOregon. Anyone can report a concern to SafeOregon by phone, text, email or through the app.
