What has your safety team been up to ??
Phew! It’s been a busy summer for your Safety Team! We may not have been in schools, but we were definitely busy ensuring that we had the latest safety information to bring back to our schools. Check out some of the highlights from our summer!
The High Desert Education Service District made it possible for 4 threat assessment team members to attend the annual Association of Threat Assessment Professionl’s annual conference. This conference is held at Disneyland, so naturally, we had to do some team building.
In July, Corporal Frickey with the Bend Police Department and our very own Ashley Davenport presented to the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals at our Northwest Chapter Meeting.
One of the best things about going to a conference is getting to spend quality time with our multidisciplinary teams. Redmond Police Department sent their entire School Resource Officer Team to the Oregon School Resource Officer Association conference. We love seeing how much they value school safety!
Deschutes County Sherrif’s Office School Resource Officer Jeff Woods and Ashley Davenport had the honor of presenting about Intentional Mimicry at the annual school resource officer conference. We are honored to partner with such amazing team members.

School safetyThe mission of the High Desert ESD Safety Team and Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management Program is to foster safe, supportive, and connected school communities through prevention, early identification, thoughtful assessment, and collaborative intervention.
We bring together schools, families, law enforcement, behavioral health, and community partners to understand concerning behavior, identify needs, and connect individuals with appropriate supports and resources. Through multidisciplinary collaboration, evidence-informed practices, and shared responsibility, we work to reduce the risk of harm while promoting connection, accountability, and the physical and psychological safety of students, staff, and our communities.

For the 2025-2026 year, the High Desert Education Service District Safety Team has been hard at work supporting our schools. Our goal is to provide excellent service to our community while also being transparent about where the safety team is spending their time.
