Emergency Operations Planning
Our nation’s K-12 schools and school districts are entrusted to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for students, faculty, and staff members. Faced with emergencies ranging from active shooter situations to cyber attacks that may occur with little to no warning, it is critical for all schools and school districts—public and private, large and small, rural and urban to plan ahead to ensure the safety and general welfare of all members of their school or campus community.
A high-quality Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) will improve a school/district’s ability to prepare, mitigate, respond and recover from a critical incident. The School Safety Specialist at High Desert ESD will help guide schools developing a robust EOP as well as training staff on the application of the plan.
The mission of the Oregon Department of Education’s School Safety and Emergency Management (SSEM) program is to support the development and implementation of emergency operations plans (EOPs) in schools across the state to help improve the safety and security for all students and staff.
